Dominican Republic Attractions

The country of the extraordinary variety – this is how the Dominican Republic is usually named. The attractions for any tastes, beginning with delightful beaches, and finishing with spectacular waterfalls, and sun-baked deserts wait for the tourists in the country. A kaleidoscope of influences (Spanish, African) is reflected in architecture, traditions, and culture. Visit a small fishing village of El Macao, located nearby, and you can witness the traces of the country’s past. If you consider yourself a nature lover we can recommend you a trip to one of the area's largest wild reserves and bird sanctuaries near Lago Enriquillo, a huge salt-water lake. Parque Nacional del Este is also worth visited. Being one of the largest marine parks in the Caribbean, it welcomes the tourists with different bird species and spectacular offshore coral reef system.

For those who are interested in history - Museum of the Royal Houses in Santo Domingo. Many years ago it was the colonial administrative center for all of the Spanish West Indies. Santo Domingo can also boast having the oldest cathedral in the Americas. It is called the Cathedral Primada de America. The excursion around Puerto Plata would be incomplete without visiting the Amber Museum and Mount Isabel de Torres with a botanical garden, full of blooming flowers.
